Last Friday we had a first "give back" Holiday Party! Although it was on the last minute, we had 17 people come and enjoy a hands-on experience making a Holiday ornament. Throughout the 4-hour event friends and local customers chose their favorite shapes and colors to work with and design their first glass piece. The excitement was in everyone's faces!
When their ornaments started to shape up you could feel the happiness of a well accomplished task. Some of them confined me they felt very relax and happy after doing their art.
Between creating, socializing, and enjoying CANELA's cookies with a cup of homemade hot chocolate or spiced tea everyone had the chance to visit with each other while learning the latest LULART's designs.
Finally it was time to take all the pieces to the kiln. In order to save energy, it is important to always fill up the kiln, so to fire up the Holiday ornaments I had to add other items. On this case, I used the opportunity to fire a part of a wall sculpture that I'm preparing for a customer. Here you have a good idea of a full kiln looks! If you made an ornament, you are welcome to come and get it whenever you wish. They are all ready now.
If you have not had the opportunity of coming for this experience and would like to try it, feel free to call me and schedule an appointment.
During their participation, many of them became more enthusiastic and interested on the "new medium" at hand, and wanted to have more! Thinking of them I've decided to start offering a monthly get together based on a project. On a 2-hour time, a group of up to 4 people will come to the studio and work on a specific art piece. First project will be a plate! We already have the months of January and February full. March and April are available for those who would like to "play" more! Who else is interested? Book your group as soon as possible and have a blast.
My special thanks goes to Rikke Bang who has helped me tremendously in organizing this event on the last minute! She was the real ELF of the Holidays!
She will also be helping out with our monthly get togethers, so you will be seeing her around more often.
I do hope to see more of you during the new year!
